What a great year!
2017 has been an excellent year for the Maldon Orchestra! We have increased our membership to 40 with 11 new players, we have five concerts throughout the year and raised a record £3,500 for our nominated charities. We continue to provide players from Maldon and surrounding area the opportunity to join us without an audition. There is no minimum grade standard to join. I believe that we are unique in offering this and from the feedback received from of our players, it is one of the many reasons that they have joined. More interesting are the reasons that they have stayed ... good friendship and company on a Friday night, a fun and relaxed atmosphere, a wide range of music to play and regular concerts that give them the chance to perform.
Joint concert with the choir of St Andrews Church, Boreham - December 2017
Next year looks to really exciting with six concerts already in the diary, including two local concerts for charities and return visits to the Hawthorns Retirement Village in Braintree and our annual Music on the Green in Little Totham. We have also been invited to perform two joint concerts with large choirs which present new challenges for everyone.
