Back at last

One of our last concerts before the pandemic hit was to play to the lovely residents of the Hawthorns Retirement Complex in Braintree. That all seems like a lifetime ago now and we have had to wait patiently for opportunity to play for them again. On Sunday 26th February, we made a triumphant return with 44 musicians plus the vocal talents of Colin Bellett, all under the baton of our superb Music Director, Ron Bewers.

The audience of residents, families and friends were entertained with music from films including the Magnificent Seven, Saving Private Ryan, 101 Dalmatians, The Godfather and Fiddler on the Roof.

The concert was performed for the benefit of Farleigh Hospice and raised around £500.

We always receive a warm welcome from the Hawthorns, and we would like to thank them for their generosity and hospitality.

Our attentions now turn to our next concert which will be at a new venue for us. We will be performing 'Spring time to swing time' at the Tiptree Community Centre on Sunday 30th April at 3pm in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK. Tickets are available from Don Tyler Opticians in Tiptree or by contacting the Orchestra or cbellett@aol.com
