A Christmas concert to remember

We had always promised ourselves that we would perform a return concert at the Boreham Village Hall as it was one of our last pre-pandemic concerts. Being a popular venue, it was tricky to find a date when it was available but on Sunday 18th December, the Maldon Orchestra made a triumphant return as forty-one players under the baton of their Music Director, Ron Bewers performed our Christmas concert to a capacity audience.

In the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Chelmsford, Bob Massey and Deputy Mayoress of Chelmsford, Ali Massey, the audience were entertained with festive tunes including Walking in the Air, Let It Snow and Fairytale of New York. They were invited to sing along to the Orchestra's accompaniment for O Come All Ye Faithful, O Little Town of Bethlehem and Santa Claus is Coming To Town. Colin Bellett added his vocal talents to the concert with O Holy Night, When a Child is Born and Silent Noel. The audience were further entertained by a special rendition of the Twelve Days of Christmas which incorporated daily 'thank you' messages from the recipient of the 12 gifts.

It was a delight to play at Boreham again. It was certainly a concert to remember with ice and rain to contend with in the car park, but we received a warm welcome inside.

The event raised over £1000 for the restoration of St Andrews Church in Boreham from ticket sales, refreshments and a raffle.
