During July, the Orchestra performed two very different but entertaining concerts. The first was a very long awaited participation in the Maldon Festival. They were delighted to be invited along to play at the Stage Hall of the Plume Academy on Friday 4th July to a very select but appreciative audience. The Orchestra performed music which spanned the 500 years of polyphony which included a brief rendition of Barbie Girl to demonstrate Schoenberg’s 12 tone row. Colin Bellett was on hand to add the vocals to a couple of other tunes and the evening was enjoyed by everyone present.

Only nine days later, the Orchestra performed their only outside concert of the year on the Common in Little Totham on Sunday 13th July. With an ever watchful eye on the weather, it turned out to be a splendid summer’s afternoon of light music and cream teas which raised an amazing £429 for the Witham charity, Hand in Hand.

Without taking a break for the summer, the Orchestra is already back into rehearsals for their next concert which will be in Boreham Village Hall on Sunday 14th September at 3pm when they will be raising funds for the Restoration of St Andrew’s Church, Boreham.
