A hot time in Little Totham

Our annual pilgrimage to Little Totham is always a joy as we are guaranteed to receive a warm welcome. It is quite an intimate concert with only around 60 people in the audience but it is such a fun and relaxing concert, that it is one that is always looked forward to in our concert diary. This year's concert took place on Sunday 17th July at 4pm in aid of Hand in Hand who are based in Witham. Thirty-four players braved the heat to entertain the assembled audience.

With the forecasts predicting seriously hot weather, the Orchestra's management committee swung into action early last week to discuss options for this concert. It was suggested that a call could be put out to our members to bring gazebos for the audience .... well in true Dunkirk spirit, a small tented village was erected to provide the very appreciative audience with some welcome shade. Cream teas were on hand to provide a bit of extra Great British luxury as the Orchestra provided a very patriotic programme which ranged from English Folk Song Suite, Music from the Royal Fireworks to the National Anthem.

The concert was heralded as a great success by all involved as it raised £250 for the local charity and we now look forward to our next concert in September when hopefully, the weather may be a little kinder.
