Love was in the air ...
Our first concert of 2019 was held on the afternoon of Sunday 24th February. It was our third visit to the Hawthorns in recent years and our second in their fabulous dining room. A record forty-three players performed at the concert including our fabulous guest singer, Colin Bellett. With a theme of Love and Romance, the residents and guests at the Hawthorns Retirement Complex in Braintree were serenaded, moved and entertained by musical numbers such as the Adagio from Spartacus, the Calif of Bagdad and Soul Bossa Nova from the Orchestra and Just In Time, Lost Without Your Love, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes and You Raise Me Up from Colin. Our Musical Director, Ron Bewers added an extra element to the programme with his superb explanations of how the music in the program were connected to the theme and this proved to be both educational and entertaining.
This concert was held to raise funds for the Epilepsy Society and an amazing £600 will be donated to the charity from the concert.
