An excellent concert at the Hawthorns
On Sunday 12th August 2018 we were on the road again for a concert at the Hawthorns Retirement Complex in Braintree. With over 30 players making the journey to entertain the guests and residents, and under the baton of our Music Director Ron Bewers, the audience of approximately 120 people enjoyed a mixed program of pop, film, jazz and classical music with the added bonus this year of the golden vocal talents of Colin Bellett. We played the concert as a fundraiser for Farleigh Hospice which raised £415 to be donated in loving memory of Joy Thwaites, one of our players who lost her battle against cancer in December 2017.
The original plan was for the Orchestra to play in the gardens at the Hawthorns but the fickle British summer weather dictated that we would be better off inside in their dining room. Special thanks go to Paul Kiff who brought along his excellent sound system which helped the audience hear Colin over the Orchestra.
Will we be back next year .... yes please!
