The conductor and Musical Director of Maldon Youth Orchestra is Norman Muncey.

Norman started the orchestra as a retirement project because he wanted to provide a place for young musicians to enjoy making music together. His enthusiasm is contagious and he is not afraid to make a fool of himself (which our members love).

He is an expert with the music-writing program, Sibelius and uses it to arrange music for the orchestra.

Norman is a trumpet player and currently plays in brass bands and Abbbeygate Concert Band. Twenty years ago he was instrumental in starting the Youth Section of Billericay Silver Band.
